Todd Schierkolk reports violence and kidnapping toward people who have money or connections that could provide a ransom. He stated that one man, Mr. Marquez, was kidnapped in Jerez about four blocks from their house. Since then, the military has come into town and things have calmed down significantly but people are afraid the soldiers are going to leave and things will return to what they were.
